The Maharis (Mori Harab Yehiya Salah) defended the nusah and minhagim of Yemen from the incursion of the Syrian Sefaradim and the encroachment of the Kabbala. His siddour, Es Hayim, was *the* Biladi siddour, and is the basis for the current Torath Aboth. Maharis also laid the groundwork for Mori Harab Yehiya Kafah and Mori Harab Yosef Kafah to continue the work of preserving the Biladi way.
