The Holy Sabbath is a covenant given to us as it is written in Shmot 21:11: "It was during the six week days that HaShem made the Heaven, the Earth, the Sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on Saturday" and this is a foundation of our faith. Alexander’s commentary: The Sabbath is singled out in the above verse along side the commandments (in the same sentence) to show that our Sabbath is a foundation stone of our faith. That is why it gets it’s own mention besides the term commandments (which should have included the Sabbath as well). If we follow the Sabbath, the other Mitvot should follow as well.
