Encouragement

When we started homeschooling, we were the only religious Jews in Los

Angeles doing so. Eleven years down the road things have changed. I grew up

in Brooklyn and I know how much conformity is demanded, but we all tell our

kids of Nachshon ben Aminadav, and how someone has to be first. I'm not

comparing this issue to yetziyas mitzraim, but the fact is that I think our

first obligation is to our children and while there are no guarantees at

all, the entire furor about "kids at risk" in the frum community really

places a huge onus on parents to make a conscious decision about where our

children learn, instead of just following the crowd.
