Menorah Page The verdict (on the original shape of the menorah's branches) is still out. Evidence for a mass copying (protoype) menorah, based on the (undeniably) false TITUS depiction - is compelling. However, it is not totally convincing to me (yet). I still see pre-Titus depictions (in coinage), that depict the menorah as (very slightly) rounded branches (in shape). The question remains... was Rambam's drawing limited to a demonstration of the construction of the menorah (in terms of the minimum legal requirements)? Or was it also intended to demonstrate the actual shape of the original. Also, if you bend a totally-straight read, it is possible to see a slight curve. I am undecided. In the mean time, I choose to utilize the (literal) straight-angle-branched menorah, that is depicted in Rambam's drawings.
